Background

Woodmere Art Museum's mission is to inspire creativity, learning, and self-expression through experiences with the art and artists of Philadelphia and the region.

 Housed in a 19th-century stone mansion on six acres in the Chestnut Hill neighborhood of Philadelphia, Woodmere offers a unique museum experience that centers on the art and artists of Philadelphia. Vibrant exhibitions explore the achievements and social ideas of Philadelphia’s artists in the broader context of American art. Woodmere prioritizes diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in its collecting, programming, and admission policies.


 

Details

Overview

The intern will be assigned tasks associated with Woodmere’s social media accounts, such as researching holidays, birthdays, and anniversaries relating to artists displayed at the Museum. They will learn how to schedule posts and grow social media audiences. 

The intern will be introduced to all staff members in the first week and learn what each department does. They will have the ability to attend programs and lectures to learn more about the Museum and its art and artists. They will be introduced to Woodmere’s collections management database as a valuable resource for finding content.

  • The intern will be assigned tasks associated with Woodmere’s social media accounts, such as researching holidays, birthdays, and anniversaries relating to artists displayed at the Museum.

  • They will learn how to schedule posts and grow social media audiences.  

INTERNS MUST BE AVAILABLE FOR THE DURATION OF THE PROGRAM

Requirements, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Intern should be familiar with a variety of social media platforms, such as: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and TikTok.

  • Intern should have some graphic design experience or knowledge of Canva.

  • Intern will attend weekly meetings to discuss appropriate content and messaging for social media platforms that align with Woodmere’s mission.

HOURS PER WEEK: 28 (Monday–Thursday); Onsite

Compensation

  • $20.00 per hour

INTERNS WILL WORK 28 HOURS PER WEEK AND ATTEND A MANDATORY OFFSITE PROGRAM DAY ONE DAY PER WEEK WITH THEIR COHORT.

  • Internship Period: June 5 – August 7

  • Total Weeks: 9 weeks

  • Work Hours per Week: 28 

  • Total Hours: 252

  • Workdays: 4 days per week onsite (Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays)

PROGRAM DAY:

  • On Wednesdays, interns will attend an offsite program day with their cohort.

  • These hours are separate from the internship hours.
