Artwork by Students Enrolled in Studio Institute Programs Selected for Young Visions 2022 Exhibition in New York City

An opening reception to celebrate the young artists whose work was exhibited in the Young Visions show was held June 8 at Christie’s Art Gallery at Rockefeller Center in New York City. Young Visions, made possible through a partnership with Studio in a School (Studio) and Christie’s Auction House, is an annual exhibition of art from students enrolled in Studio’s visual arts education programs.

Out of hundreds of submissions, 30 artworks were chosen from Studio programs in Newark and East Orange, New Jersey and Cleveland, Ohio. This marks a first for Studio after expanding its programming to new cities in 2016 through the Studio Institute.

Studio Institute partners with community organizations and public schools outside New York City to offer visual arts education programs for learners as young as two through Grade 8. Working under the guidance of professional artist instructors, students explore and create using a variety of media, while making connections to other learning and experiencing the joys of the creative process.

The youngsters included in this year’s Young Vision exhibit were enrolled in Early Head Start and Head Start programs offered by La Casa de Don Pedro in Newark; Althea Gibson Academy and Wahlstrom Academy of the East Orange School District; and in-school residency programs at Mary B. Martin School and Clara E. Westropp School of the Arts of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District.

We applaud our young students for their fine work and celebrate the imagination and promise of the next generation of artists in our midst.
