Highlighting the Work of Young Artists from Studio Programs in New Jersey, Connecticut, and Ohio
We are pleased to share Connecting Communities with Artists: the collages, drawings, and paintings by young artists in pre-kindergarten through grade 8 from Studio Institute programs in New Jersey, Ohio, and Connecticut—now on display at the Studio in a School Association Gallery at One East 53rd Street in Manhattan.
The artwork from Studio Institute partnerships with La Casa de Don Pedro Head Start Centers in Newark, New Jersey and East Orange School District in East Orange, New Jersey reflects the joy of discovery and excitement of learning as students aged two to four explore painting, collage, and drawing. Included in the show is art from children attending Grauer Preschool, a new partnership with Family Centers in Greenwich, Connecticut.
The exhibit also presents work from students at the Cleveland Metropolitan School District: Clara E. Westropp and Mary B. Martin elementary schools in Cleveland, Ohio, where Studio Institute’s in-school artist residencies serve students from pre-kindergarten through grade 8. Some of the art in Connecting Communities with Artists appeared in the annual Young Visions show at Christie’s Art Gallery in New York City earlier this summer.
The fine artwork of our young artists attests to the importance of arts education and community partnerships. We would like to acknowledge the individuals, foundations, schools, and community organizations who have supported this important work.
