Arts Achieve
ARTS ACHIEVE was a large-scale arts assessment research project, which was undertaken to develop units and instructional plans that improved students‘ skills with the help of assessment and technology.
The project was created by two United States Department of Education grants: an Investing in Innovation grant awarded to Studio in a School, and an Arts Education Model Development and Dissemination grant awarded to the New York City Department of Education’s Office of Arts and Special Projects.
Expanding the Frame
EXPANDING THE FRAME was a research project funded by an AEMDD grant. It focused on the development and implementation of arts integrated units for 4th and 5th grade students at four public schools in the South Bronx.
Classroom teachers and artist instructors collaborated to teach units that addressed specific skills in Math, ELA, and Art, all while making use of technology in the classroom. The project had a three-year implementation plan, and resulted in increased activated achievement.
Created by Studio artist instructors using easy-to-find materials, these video art lessons promote exploration and creativity and help learners from K–Grade 2 and Grades 3–5 build essential learning skills.
