Students in Studio Institute Programs Featured at Christie’s Young Visions
On June 20, we were pleased to celebrate the young artists from
Pre-K through high school, whose work was included in the Young Visions 2024 exhibition at Christie’s New York in Rockefeller Center.
Young Visions, made possible through a partnership with Studio in a School and Christie’s Auction House, is an annual exhibition of art from students enrolled in Studio NYC and Studio Institute visual arts education programs in New York City and beyond.
The artwork in this exhibition, by students aged two through second grade, includes drawing, painting, and collage from Creative Start. This Early Childhood program is offered at Head Start, community programs, and schools including: La Casa de Don Pedro in Newark, New Jersey; Gateway Preschool at Family Centers in Greenwich, Connecticut; Rainey Institute in Cleveland, Ohio; and Althea Gibson Academy and Wahlstrom Academy in East Orange, New Jersey.
Exhibited also are works from young artists at Fairhill Partners in Cleveland, Ohio, as well as artwork from students at Clara E. Westropp School of the Arts, Dike School of the Arts, and Mary B. Martin School in Cleveland, where our in-school residency programs serve students from Pre-Kindergarten through eighth grade. Working in various media, students explore their creativity, while connecting to other learning.
Locally, Studio Institute's out-of-school programs for New York City teens include a series of Studio Intensives in which students hone their skills in various media, from charcoal figure drawing and oil pastel self-portraits to landscape painting with acrylics. These works reflect the teens' interests, perspectives, and observations of the world, people, and things around them, as they develop as artists.
On hand to view the exhibition were our 2024 College Scholarship awardees, three of whose work was included in the show: (left to right below) Melanie M., Michael F., and Stacy R.
Special thanks to our school and community partners for their participation and support: Gateway Preschool at Family Centers, Greenwich, Connecticut; Clara E. Westropp School, Mary B. Martin School, Dike School of the Arts, Fairhill Partners, and Rainey Institute at the Pivot Center for Art in Cleveland, Ohio; Althea Gibson Academy and Wahlstrom Academy in East Orange, New Jersey; and La Casa de Don Pedro centers at in Newark, New Jersey.
New York City school partners include: Brooklyn High School of the Arts in Brooklyn; High School of Art and Design and School of the Future in Manhattan; and Francis Lewis High School, Scholars’ Academy, and Thomas A. Edison Career and Technical Education High School in Queens.
We applaud these youngsters and students for their fine work and celebrate the imagination and promise of the next generation of artists in our midst.
