Background

We believe that artists and arts communities bring a unique perspective and a special ability to nurture the creative spirit of young people.

Studio artist instructors work collaboratively with teachers to make meaningful curriculum connections that support students’ creative and intellectual growth. We also work with school leaders to offer long-term, multi-year partnerships that provide sustainable programming—allowing for deeper engagement and skill development in art throughout the academic year.

Administrators at La Casa de Don Pedro in Newark and and Studio Institute artist instructor Maya Shae highlight the value of art education in Head Start program. Watch Now.

My son looks forward to class every week. If he has to miss art, he is very sad. He drew a picture at home and said, ‘I made a zig zag. I learned it in art class!’
