Art With a Heart: Social Enterprise & Arts Administration Intern (Baltimore)

OVERVIEW

Join Art with a Heart’s HeARTwares as a Social Enterprise & Arts Administration Intern and contribute to a mission-driven initiative that blends arts, retail, and workforce development. This summer, you’ll take on a project-driven role to refine HeARTwares' inventory systems, e-commerce presence, and community engagement efforts. Your work will directly impact emerging artists and young creatives, ensuring their art reaches a wider audience while gaining hands-on experience in arts administration, marketing, and event coordination.

You won’t just assist—you’ll lead and execute a meaningful project from start to finish, culminating in a celebratory shopping event showcasing your efforts. This internship is perfect for students eager to build their professional portfolios while making a lasting impact on a nonprofit arts organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receive hands-on training in inventory management tools, e-commerce platforms, and social media marketing strategies.

  • Develop marketing strategies to promote products and engage HeARTwares’ digital audience.

  • Research and propose solutions for shipping cost optimization and pricing strategies.

  • Launch a social media marketing campaign to promote HeARTwares’ inventory and mission.

  • Plan and coordinate logistics for a celebratory shopping event, including community outreach, promotions, and event setup.

  • Compile a professional portfolio piece, such as a case study on HeARTwares’ transformation and growth.

  • Gather and document effective social media and marketing techniques that HeARTwares can use in the future

  • Research and provide recommendations on how HeARTwares can better utilize its website’s backend based on the insights gathered throughout the internship

  • Lead a final presentation on project outcomes and personal learning takeaways.

REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS, AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities

  • Experience with or willingness to learn inventory tracking systems (Excel, Google Sheets, Shopify, Square, Wix).

  • Basic photography and photo editing (Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Canva).
    Digital marketing skills, including social media content creation and engagement.

  • Strong communication and ability to work both independently and in a team.

  • Graphic design experience in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva (preferred)

  • Data analysis for inventory and sales trend insights (preferred)

  • Event planning and coordination (preferred)

COMPENSATION

  • $20 per hour

INTERNS WILL WORK 28 HOURS PER WEEK AND ATTEND A MANDATORY OFFSITE PROGRAM DAY ONE DAY PER WEEK WITH THEIR COHORT.

  • Internship Period: June 16 – August 15

  • Total Weeks: 9 weeks

  • Work Hours per Week: 28

  • Total Hours: 252

  • Workdays: 4 days per week onsite (Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays)

  • Work hours will be 9:00-4:00

PROGRAM DAY:

  • On Wednesdays, interns will attend an offsite program day with their cohort.

  • These hours are separate from the internship hours.
