Artists For Humanity: Photography Studio Archival Intern (Boston)
OVERVIEW
Reporting to Mary Nguyen, the Director of Photography, will work with the Photography Studio team to be an Archival Intern supporting the documentation and archival of Artists For Humanity’s rich history. Responsibilities include scanning, lightly editing, inserting metadata, and archiving physical photographs as well as aiding in the organization of pre-existing photographs. Qualifications include attention to detail,
strong communication skills, and proficiency in Mac-based computers. The role will also interface with past Artists For Humanity alumni to capture the names and details of former Artists For Humanity employees.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Scan and lightly edit physical photographs for archival purposes
Insert metadata and organize digital and physical photo archives
Assist in documenting and preserving Artists For Humanity’s history
Aid in the organization of pre-existing photographs
Interface with past AFH alumni to gather names and details of former employees
Collaborate with the Photography Studio team to ensure archival accuracy
Ensure proper storage and backup of all photography-related files to maintain data integrity.
REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS, AND QUALIFICATIONS
Appreciation of the role of art, design, and entrepreneurship in youth development; deep belief in Artists For Humanity’s mission
Strong attention to detail for accurate documentation and metadata entry
Proficiency in Mac-based computers and relevant software
Excellent communication skills for engaging with alumni, team members, and individuals from diverse backgrounds
Ability to work independently and manage tasks efficiently
Interest in photography, archiving, or historical preservation is a plus
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Must be a US Citizen, US National or Permanent Resident
This is a part-time position, with flexible hours based on scheduled client photoshoots and studio activities
COMPENSATION
$22.50 per hour
INTERNS WILL WORK 28 HOURS PER WEEK AND ATTEND A MANDATORY OFFSITE PROGRAM DAY ONE DAY PER WEEK WITH THEIR COHORT.
Internship Period: June 9 – August 8
Total Weeks: 9 weeks
Work Hours per Week: 28
Total Hours: 252
Workdays: 4 days per week onsite (Mondays – Thursdays)
Work hours will be 10 AM - 6 PM
PROGRAM DAY:
On Fridays, interns will attend an offsite program day with their cohort.
These hours are separate from the internship hours.
