Atlantic Theater Company: Artistic Intern

OVERVIEW
The Artistic Intern will learn about and support the operations of a nonprofit Artistic team of three, reporting to the Literary Manager. The intern will be trained in script and readings coverage and analysis, producing of readings and workshops, and various organizational tasks regarding script databases, artist support programs, special events, and assistant work. They will sharpen their administrative, writing, and critical
thinking skills. The intern will also assist with MixFest, gaining experience in an institution-wide, multi-department initiative.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reading play submissions and attending staged readings on behalf of Atlantic

  • Writing script coverage containing summaries and a critical analysis of the play

  • Support the producing of readings:

  • Assist with cast/creative hiring process, managing payroll and financial processes

  • Day-of-support – setting up and breaking down the space, greeting artists, preparing supplies

  • Managing a script and season database: logging and documenting the path of a script through Atlantic’s office, updating database with new information, tracking the season schedule of other important companies

  • Working on Atlantic’s MixFest – including curation, producing, etc.

    REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS, AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Written and verbal communication skills

  • Analytical and critical thinking skills

  • Confidentiality

  • Familiarity with Google Suite, Outlook and Microsoft Suite and Zoom

  • Familiarity with AirTable or Excel preferred

COMPENSATION

  • $22.50 per hour

INTERNS WILL WORK 28 HOURS PER WEEK AND ATTEND A MANDATORY OFFSITE PROGRAM DAY ONE DAY PER WEEK WITH THEIR COHORT.

  • Internship Period: June 2 – August 1

  • Total Weeks: 9 weeks

  • Work Hours per Week: 28

  • Total Hours: 252

  • Workdays: 4 days per week onsite (Mondays – Thursdays)

  • Work hours will be 10 AM - 6 PM  

PROGRAM DAY:

  • On Fridays, interns will attend an offsite program day with their cohort.

  • These hours are separate from the internship hours.
