Drama Club: Communications Intern (New York)

Join Drama Club as our Communications Intern and help amplify the voices of incarcerated and court-involved youth through powerful digital storytelling. This is a hands-on opportunity to develop marketing strategies, create compelling content, and shape the public face of a mission-driven nonprofit – all while gaining valuable experience in the arts and social impact sector!

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Shape the Story – Develop a six-month social media strategy and create
    engaging content to showcase Drama Club’s impact.

  • Reimagine Our Website – Conduct a website audit and help design new
    digital materials that better communicate our mission.

  • Engage the Community – Support donor and community engagement
    initiatives through creative campaigns and outreach.

  • Build Your Portfolio – Work on real projects that will give you a strong
    portfolio in nonprofit communications, marketing, and branding.

  • Learn from Experts – Work closely with our Director of Development and
    collaborate with the Programs team to collect powerful youth stories.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • A strong writer and communicator who loves storytelling and digital
    media.

  • Someone with experience in social media strategy, content creation, and
    marketing.

  • A creative thinker with design skills (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or
    similar, early adopters of AI a plus).

  • A detail-oriented, organized go-getter who can work both independently
    and collaboratively in a fast-paced nonprofit environment.

  • Early adopters of AI or vibecoding a major plus

COMPENSATION

  • $22.50 per hour

INTERNS WILL WORK 28 HOURS PER WEEK AND ATTEND A MANDATORY OFFSITE PROGRAM DAY ONE DAY PER WEEK WITH THEIR COHORT.

  • Internship Period: June 2 – August 1

  • Total Weeks: 9 weeks

  • Work Hours per Week: 28

  • Total Hours: 252

  • Workdays: 4 days per week onsite (Mondays – Thursdays)

  • Work hours will be 9 AM - 5 PM  

PROGRAM DAY:

  • On Fridays, interns will attend an offsite program day with their cohort.

  • These hours are separate from the internship hours.
