Everyman Theatre: Teaching Artist & Set Design/Stage Manager Intern (Baltimore)
OVERVIEW
Everyman Theatre’s Education Department is seeking two motivated and passionate college students to join our 2025 Summer Camp as Teaching Artist Assistants/Set Designers/Stage Managers. This internship provides aspiring artists—whether in theatre, visual arts, music, or dance—with hands-on experience in theatre education, production design, and stage management. Interns will contribute both creatively and organizationally, balancing interactive camper engagement with project-based artistic responsibilities.
This opportunity is ideal for students eager to create, collaborate, and inspire. Interns will develop professional skills in classroom leadership, set and prop design, and arts education, all while working alongside experienced teaching artists and theatre professionals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Participate in structured training on childcare, classroom management, and camp logistics.
Begin planning and designing set pieces and props for camp performances, brainstorming ideas with Teaching Artists.
Design & Build: Construct set pieces, props, and costumes with materials suited for young actors.
Collaborate: Work closely with campers and Teaching Artists to develop visual storytelling elements.
Lead Creative Activities: Facilitate small-scale crafting/design projects with campers in preparation for Friday performances.
Manage the visual and logistical elements of weekly Friday performances.
Ensure all stage and set elements are completed by Thursday each week for Friday’s showings.
Serve as a Stage Manager as needed, overseeing performance logistics and backstage organization.
Wrap-Up & Reflection: Reset theatre spaces, organize materials, and provide feedback on camp operations.
Independent Project: Choose a capstone task, such as:
Creating a social media video chronicling the internship experience.
Developing a Digital Play Guide for the High School Matinee Program.
Assisting with event design for Everyman Theatre’s Annual Gala
REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS, AND QUALIFICATIONS
Basic childcare and classroom management experience.
Creativity and adaptability in visual storytelling and set design
Strong collaboration and communication abilities
Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs safely (training provided).
COMPENSATION
$20 per hour
INTERNS WILL WORK 28 HOURS PER WEEK AND ATTEND A MANDATORY OFFSITE PROGRAM DAY ONE DAY PER WEEK WITH THEIR COHORT.
Internship Period: June 16 – August 15
Total Weeks: 9 weeks
Work Hours per Week: 28
Total Hours: 252
Workdays: 4 days per week onsite (Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays)
Work hours will be 9:00-4:00
PROGRAM DAY:
On Wednesdays, interns will attend an offsite program day with their cohort.
These hours are separate from the internship hours.
