Sitar Arts Center: Communications & Digital Media Intern (Washington, D.C.)

OVERVIEW

The Communications & Digital Media Intern will support Sitar Arts Center’s Communications Team by documenting summer programming through photography and videography, creating engaging social media content, and contributing to Sitar’s digital storytelling efforts. This role is ideal for a student with a passion for visual storytelling, digital media production, and nonprofit marketing.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Capture high-quality photos and videos of Camp Sitar and Bloomberg Arts Internship activities

  • Film and edit short promotional videos, including a highlight reel for Sitar’s summer musical

  • Conduct and record interviews with students, teaching artists, and community
    members

  • Assist in developing and executing a social media strategy to engage teens and young adults

  • Support media asset organization and content archiving

  • Collaborate with the Communications Team to ensure consistent storytelling across platforms

REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS, AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current college sophomore or junior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in film, media
    production, communications, or a related field

  • Bloomberg Arts Internship alumni who participated in the program between 2020–
    2022

  • Experience with photography, videography, and video editing (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar software)

  • Familiarity with social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube

  • Strong communication, collaboration, writing and storytelling skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks

  • Experience with DSLR or mirrorless cameras is preferred but not required

COMPENSATION

  • $22.50 per hour

INTERNS WILL WORK 28 HOURS PER WEEK AND ATTEND A MANDATORY OFFSITE PROGRAM DAY ONE DAY PER WEEK WITH THEIR COHORT.

  • Internship Period: June 5 – August 6

  • Total Weeks: 9 weeks

  • Work Hours per Week: 28

  • Total Hours: 252

  • Workdays: 4 days per week onsite (Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays)

  • Work hours will be 10:00am-6:00pm

PROGRAM DAY:

  • On Wednesdays, interns will attend an offsite program day with their cohort.

  • These hours are separate from the internship hours.
