Socrates Sculpture Park: Curatorial and Public Programs Intern (New York)

OVERVIEW
The Summer Curatorial and Public Programs Intern will play a pivotal role in advancing our mission by centering artists and fostering a supportive environment for their work. Acting as a key liaison between artists and organizational departments, this position will enable us to sustain and enhance the depth and impact of our programming, while
ensuring seamless communication, coordination, and collective care for Socrates’ artists and community. With dual reporting to the Director of Public Programs and Community Engagement and the Curator/Director of Exhibitions, the Intern will support the administrative and project management needs of artist commissions and programming requests.

This role will work closely with the Director of Public Programs and Community Engagement to develop and document public programs with key stakeholders and newly commissioned artists—spanning dance, performance, music, and education-based workshops—ensuring programmatic alignment across curatorial and public programming. The Intern will work with Public Programs and Curatorial to expand
opportunities for artists participation in Socrates’ events, engaging the public and if applicable, our recently activated alumni network, strengthening connections between artists, visitors, and local visitors.

Socrates understands that our role in supporting artists and the community is increasingly and inextricably linked. At its core, Socrates is a place where environmental consciousness and artistic expression meet to inspire local/civic engagement. All of Socrates’ offerings seek the outcome of a more engaged and inspired community, achieved through the acquisition of practical skills and participation in the collaborative process. The Intern will be part of a team that will aid in increasing our ability to achieve
our mission by engaging with community members and artists in relationship building and programmatic visioning.
