The Clay Studio: Curatorial Intern (Philadelphia)

OVERVIEW

The Clay Studio internship is meant to provide students with a comprehensive experience in gallery management and artistic programming, focusing on archives maintenance. The Bloomberg College Arts Intern will help upload The Clay Studio's exhibition and artist archives onto the website. This project requires researching The Clay Studio's physical archives, collecting and uploading information and images, and working with artists to update their information on the website.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the Curator of Artistic Programs and Exhibition Coordinator with planning and production of the exhibitions, including three Resident Artist solo shows (Summer 2025), and Clay as Care (Fall 2025)

  • Work on all aspects of exhibition planning, including gathering images, photo credits, gallery installation, and other materials for publication on the website, social media, press releases, exhibition wall text, registration paperwork, etc.

  • Archive maintenance - including adding historical exhibition records to the website

  • Permanent Collection Maintenance - including documenting new accessions, art
    handling, and physical upkeep of items on display

  • Gallery surveys with visitors

  • Workaround supporting events related to the exhibitions, including Exhibition Council Meetings and public events during each exhibition

COMPENSATION

  • $20 per hour

INTERNS WILL WORK 28 HOURS PER WEEK AND ATTEND A MANDATORY OFFSITE PROGRAM DAY ONE DAY PER WEEK WITH THEIR COHORT.

  • Internship Period: June 11 – August 13

  • Total Weeks: 9 weeks

  • Work Hours per Week: 28

  • Total Hours: 252

  • Workdays: 4 days per week onsite (Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays)

  • Work hours will be 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

PROGRAM DAY:

  • On Wednesdays, interns will attend an offsite program day with their cohort.

  • These hours are separate from the internship hours.
