The Mütter Museum at The College of Physicians of Philadelphia: Educational Program Intern (Philadelphia)
OVERVIEW
The Educational Program Intern at the Mütter Museum of the College of Physicians of
Philadelphia will contribute to the development of new educational offerings. Working
under the Senior Director of Interpretation & Engagement, the Intern will gain
experience in strategic planning, program development, and program delivery for
audiences including visiting school groups, underserved high-schoolers, and the general
public.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Research on the museum’s object and archival collections
Development of lesson plans and pop-up exhibits that draw on the museum’s
collectionsAssisting in the development of a curriculum for a year-long afterschool program
Developing program assessment tools
Delivering tours and classroom sessions as needed
Evaluating existing guided tours and revising scripts
Designing educational collateral (e.g., audio tour scripts, gallery guides, etc.)
REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS, AND QUALIFICATIONS
Multi-tasking
Written and oral communication
Comfort working with a diverse array of people
Adaptability
High level of independence (e.g., when given a subject to research, are they able to develop a plan, identify resources, and work to deadlines)
COMPENSATION
$20 per hour
INTERNS WILL WORK 28 HOURS PER WEEK AND ATTEND A MANDATORY OFFSITE PROGRAM DAY ONE DAY PER WEEK WITH THEIR COHORT.
Internship Period: June 11 – August 13
Total Weeks: 9 weeks
Work Hours per Week: 28
Total Hours: 252
Workdays: 4 days per week onsite (Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays)
Work hours will be 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
PROGRAM DAY:
On Wednesdays, interns will attend an offsite program day with their cohort.
These hours are separate from the internship hours.
