Background

FolukéARTS is a community based organization based in Cleveland Ohio, whose focus is to strengthen and support underprivileged communities by providing access to performing arts, visual arts, and arts education. Our focus is at-risk Children, Youth, and Teens, and older adults.

We provide multi-generational arts education services to the Greater Cleveland Area with a special commitment to the Cedar-Central ‘Promise’ Neighborhood. To implement arts and culture activities that will develop positive community ‘norms’ through the belief that it takes a village to raise a child, and that the older people are keepers of the culture and must remain dynamic members of society to provide younger generations positive role models.

Development Intern

Foluké Cultural Arts is seeking a qualified intern to work within our Management team and Fundraising Committee to assist with our donor database management program and the planning and implementation of our fundraising efforts. The internship spans a range of responsibilities including managing and cultivating relationships with donors, maintaining records, and coordinating volunteers. College or Graduate students with emphasis in their studies on English, Communications, Public Relations, Arts Administration, Social Work, Gender Studies, Political Science, or Public and/or Non-profit Administration are encouraged to apply.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist Development consultant in development of:

    • Researching and sharing best practices for fundraising events and campaigns; communicating regularly via email and telephone with volunteer fundraisers and committee members.

  • Communicate with current and prospective donors

  • Help maintain and update donor databases

  • Assist Development team in organizing day-to-day communications with individual and company donors

  • Assist Development team in drafting fundraising emails

  • Assist Development team in event planning and coordination

  • Research projects, prospects, and initiatives for the Development team

  • Draft profiles of prospective donors for Development team

  • Perform general administrative duties to assist Foluké Cultural Arts Management Staff, to include general filing and data entry

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) Strong research skills

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Experience with research a plus

  • Experience working with databases a plus

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.)

  • Discretion when dealing with sensitive issues and information

  • An understanding of Foluké Cultural Arts programs and interest in its mission

Compensation

  • $20.00 per hour

INTERNS WILL WORK 28 HOURS PER WEEK AND ATTEND A MANDATORY OFFSITE PROGRAM DAY ONE DAY PER WEEK WITH THEIR COHORT.

  • Internship Period: June 16 – August 18

  • Total Weeks: 9 weeks

  • Work Hours per Week: 28 

  • Total Hours: 252

  • Workdays: 4 days per week, 10:00 AM–4:00 PM

    PROGRAM DAY:

  • On Fridays, interns will attend an offsite program day with their cohort.

  • These hours are separate from the internship hours.


Marketing Intern

Foluké Cultural Arts is seeking a qualified intern to work within our Management team to assist with elevating the organizations online presence, promote community engagement/outreach, and market our upcoming fundraising efforts. The internship spans a range of responsibilities including the development of content related to a multi-disciplinary non-profit community arts organization as it relates to social media posts and website entries.

College or Graduate students with emphasis in their studies on English, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Social Work, Gender Studies, Political Science, or Public and/or Non-profit Administration are encouraged to apply.

Foluké Cultural Arts is seeking an intern whose primary responsibilities will be:

  • Reviewing, editing, and uploading artist biographies and images to the organizations newly redesigned website.

  • Reviewing and editing of community arts events, program offerings, gala, and/or festival descriptions to be used for social media and other purposes.

  • Organizing the arts media library to help consolidate and preserve the FolukéCultural Arts community arts history.

Overview

Requirements, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Qualified candidates must be undergraduate juniors or seniors working towards a career in arts administration, museum studies, or a strongly related field.

  • Qualified candidates must possess excellent writing skills, be detail-oriented, familiar with research activities, proficient with Adobe and Photoshop, and interested in learning to use a website content management system.

  • Ideal candidates will have written ability in Spanish, a deep interest in culture, and be able to commit to the project with the goal of enhancing the online presence of the performing arts department and assisting in providing quality programming for guests.

Compensation

  • $20.00 per hour

Eligibility

To be eligible for Arts Intern 2025, you must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree and:

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time rising junior (a current sophomore)
    – or –

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time junior – or –

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time senior graduating by fall 2025.

Reside or attend college/university within Cuyahoga County.

You must have a Student Aid Index up to $6,250.
