Heritage Museum of Asian Art showcases a wide range of art forms, spanning many cultures and time periods of Asia.

The museum’s collection includes archaic and modern jades, Neolithic pottery, imperial porcelains, Chinese snuff bottles, scholar’s objects, textiles, bronzes and more. Classical Chinese furniture also adorns the galleries.

The museum provides an interconnection between the arts and cultures of Asia for the residents of Chicago and for visitors from all around the world.

The Heritage Museum of Asian Art is seeking a talented and motivated intern to join our team. We are specifically looking for an individual who possesses strong social media skills and has a passion for content creation. This internship opportunity will allow you to showcase your creativity while gaining valuable experience in a cultural institution setting.

This internship will provide you with hands-on experience in social media management, content creation, and event documentation. It is an excellent opportunity to expand your portfolio and contribute to promoting Asian art to a wider audience.

Social Media & Content Creation Intern

Overview

Responsibilities

The Social Media & Content Creation Intern will:

  • Manage and curate social media platforms for the museum

  • Create engaging and visually appealing content for various social media channels

  • Design eye-catching flyers and promotional materials

  • Capture high-quality photos and videos during museum activities and events

  • Assist in developing social media strategies and campaigns

  • Monitor social media analytics and provide insights for improvement

Requirements, Skills, and Qualifications

The Museum Collections Intern should have:

  • Proficiency in social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter

  • Knowledge of content creation tools and software

  • Strong design skills and ability to create visually appealing graphics

  • Experience in capturing and editing videos for social media

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Detail-oriented with a keen eye for aesthetics

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadline

  • Interest in Asian art and culture is a plus

Compensation

  • $20.00 per hour

INTERNS WILL WORK 28 HOURS PER WEEK AND ATTEND A MANDATORY OFFSITE PROGRAM DAY ONE DAY PER WEEK WITH THEIR COHORT.

  • Internship Period: June 4 – August 14

  • Total Weeks: 10 weeks

  • Work Hours per Week: 28 

  • Total Hours: 252

  • Workdays:

PROGRAM DAY:

  • On Fridays, interns will attend an offsite program day with their cohort.

  • These hours are separate from the internship hours.


 

Eligibility

To be eligible for Arts Intern 2025, you must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree and:

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time rising junior (a current sophomore)
    – or –

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time junior – or –

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time senior graduating by fall 2025.

You must either reside or attend college in New York City.

You must have a Student Aid Index up to $6,250.
