In accordance with Andy Warhol’s will, the mission of The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts is the advancement of the visual arts. The Foundation manages an innovative and flexible grants program while also preserving Warhol’s legacy through creative and responsible licensing policies and extensive scholarly research for ongoing catalogue raisonné projects.

Communications Intern
The Communications Manager encompasses a broad range of communications responsibilities, including media relations, social media, and management of the foundation’s digital presence. The Communications Manager ensures a positive and engaged public image for the foundation and promotes the foundation’s core values to the visual arts community, other funders and partners, and the general public in alignment with the foundation’s priorities.
The Communications Intern will work closely with the Foundation’s Communications Manager to take part in various projects to help share the foundation’s work, the work of the foundation’s grantees, promote its core values, and to grow the foundation’s audience.
The internship intends to provide a hands-on experience of the inner workings of the Foundation’s external communications that amplify the work of the foundation’s grantees, its philanthropic endeavors, innovative licensing collaborations, and the scholarly research of the catalogues raisonnés.
The Communications Intern will have the opportunity to meet with other foundation staff members to learn more about the roles they play at the foundation, and how other departments of the foundation function and contribute to our founder’s legacy. They will also be provided with opportunities to visit local organizations and institutions that have been funded by the foundation to gain a broader sense of the foundation’s work and the work of its grantees.

Current undergraduate (junior or senior)
Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written

Interest in the visual arts, arts administration, and/or philanthropy
Ability to work independently
Knowledge of social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X, and related social media management tools such as Later or Hootsuite)
Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop
Knowledge of e-marketing platforms such as Mail Chimp
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Knowledge of Canva, online graphic design
Ability to commit 14 – 17 hours/week
Compensation
$23.00 per hour
INTERNS WILL WORK ONSITE 28 HOURS PER WEEK AND ATTEND A MANDATORY OFFSITE PROGRAM DAY ONE DAY PER WEEK WITH THEIR COHORT.
Internship Period: June 2 – August 4
Total Weeks: 9 weeks
Work Hours per Week: 28
Total Hours: 252
Workdays: 4 days per week, with remote flexibility
We would like to have the interns start sometime in the spring of 2025 and conclude at the end of the summer. Daily hours are flexible, but the hours of 10am - 6pm are preferred.
PROGRAM DAY:
On Fridays, interns will attend an offsite program day with their cohort.
These hours are separate from the internship hours.
Special Projects
Assist in the creation of the Foundation’s periodic newsletter, which highlights all aspects of the Foundation’s work including notable reviews of Foundation-funded exhibitions, news and achievements of current grantees, recent licensing projects, and developments in the catalogues raisonnés;
Assist in the creation of the foundation’s Regional Regranting Program quarterly newsletter, highlighting recent announcements, updates, and other program related news to our network of regranting partners across the country. This is an opportunity to work closely with the Regional Regranting Program intern to compile and shape the content of the newsletter;
Conceive and organize a social media campaign for the Foundation’s social media channels. This can be a series of grantee-related posts, a campaign centered around one of the Foundation’s philanthropic contributions such as the Photographic Legacy Project or the Stanford Photo Archive or a current licensing/sales initiative.
General Responsibilities
Communicate with Foundation grantees to request visual materials for the Foundation’s social media platforms, newsletters, and other communications
Identify relevant grantee activities, exhibitions, and events to include in social media posts and newsletters
Research and identify information and visual assets to craft various social media campaigns
Draft social media posts, campaigns, and newsletters for the Communications Manager to review and supply feedback.
Work with the Regional Regranting Program intern to collect information and materials for the content of the quarterly newsletter

Regranting Program Intern
The Regional Regranting Program (RRP) partners with local arts organizations around the country to make grants to artists and collectives for projects that chart new creative territory in their communities; participation is by invitation only. Each partner in the network creates its own program tailored to the specific needs and artistic identity of its region.
Established in 2007, the network is currently active in 32 cities and regions, supporting artists whose work falls outside the scope of traditional presenting organizations and/or funding opportunities. Projects supported by these grants have included queer zines, living room galleries, radical seafaring events, and virtual reality film screenings among other public-facing experimental activities.
The Regional Regranting Program Intern will work closely with the Foundation’s Regional Regranting Program Officer to assist with various tasks to help fortify and expand the Regranting Program’s impact. This internship intends to provide hands-on experience of the inner workings of the Foundation’s Regional Regranting Program, which supports under-the-radar, artist-led projects in 36 cities and regions across the U.S. and in Puerto Rico. Work with communication intern to manage the RRP Communications Form on Submittable
Assist with polling and scheduling for program wide meetings
Gather content and assets for Regranting newsletter on Mailchimp
Program Documentation and Archiving
Maintain and editi the RRP Program archive on Airtable
Update program spreadsheets tracking contact information and other relevant content
Collect and digitally organize partner content for RRP profiles on the AWFVA website
Perform digital audit for each program partner
Manage program calendar with reporting deadlines
Special projects may include:
Creating an Airtable Guide for Regranting Partners (ongoing)
Program Accessibility Guide (ongoing)
Supporting Program Officer with planning RRP Regional Gatherings for 2025 + 2026
Maintaining Artist + Curator directory on Submittable
Reading, compiling, and organizing archival program materials from 2007 - present.
Gather and collect program materials from regranting partners (digital or physical, i.e., grantee/program catalogues, books, brochures, etc.)
Researching and compiling program statistics.
Reading and writing assignment related to arts and grantmaking.

Ability to commit 28 hours/week in-person
Compensation
$22.50 per hour

Eligibility
To be eligible for Arts Intern 2025, you must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree and:
Currently enrolled as a full-time rising junior (a current sophomore)
– or –Currently enrolled as a full-time junior – or –
Currently enrolled as a full-time senior graduating by fall 2025.
You must either reside or attend college in New York City.
