Art Joins Music at Fairhill Partners to Launch Larchmere Porchfest

Studio Institute Cleveland celebrated young visual artists on Saturday, June 29 in conjunction with the first stop in the popular day-long Larchmere PorchFest. The two nonprofits have teamed-up for a series of hands-on arts workshops for intergenerational families who are part of Fairhill Partners’ Kinship and Bridge to Health programs.

An exhibition of over 60 works of art—open to the public throughout July—is on view in a pop-up exhibition on the first floor of 12200 Fairhill Road at East 124th Street. This program is made possible with public funds through Cuyahoga Arts and Culture.

Special recognition was given to four young Cleveland artists whose work was also recognized for their work being shown in New York City’s prestigious Christie’s at Rockefeller Center. “Young Visions 2024” is the annual exhibition showcasing student work from Studio Institute’s programs in New York City, Newark, Cleveland, and Greenwich, Connecticut.

While the band “Blackout Rose” performed, the public was invited to paint their inspirations on hand fans that they could take with them to keep cool as they visited the different porch concerts and activities throughout the festival. The young artists joined seniors, and several made more than one creation.

“This was so much fun,” said one of the participating seniors. “I came to hear the band but saw this happening and totally forgot about my groceries in the car!”

In addition to Studio’s work at Fairhill Partners, young artists from Cleveland Metropolitan School District from Clara E. Westropp School of the Arts, Dike School of the Arts, and Mary B. Martin School were represented.
