Honoring Dorothy Lichtenstein

Agnes Gund and the Studio in a School board of directors and staff mourn the loss of our beloved Dorothy Lichtenstein. A dedicated board member for 24 years, Dorothy was instrumental in bringing Studio’s time-tested work in New York City to nine other cities as founding vice chair of the Studio Institute.

Her philanthropy and desire to help was boundless — she was a beacon of light and steadfast support. Dorothy radiated goodness and positive energy and was deeply vested in the children Studio serves. She was the epitome of beauty, grace, kindness, and intelligence, and was an extraordinary friend, fiercely loyal and deeply empathetic.

She impacted so many lives, and we will cherish our decades long friendship. The world is darker without Dorothy in it. Sending love to David and Mitchell Lichtenstein, our friends at the Lichtenstein Foundation, and all of Dorothy's family and friends.
